Joslin Garden: Keeping Nature Nearby for All to Enjoy
Joslin Garden is owned by the City of Raleigh, and is part of Raleigh’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. For more information, please visit the City of Raleigh’s Joslin Garden website.
William and Mary Coker Joslin always believed that parks and greenways are a large part of what makes Raleigh a vibrant and healthy place to live. Donating their home and garden to the City of Oaks Foundation (an organization founded in partnership between the Joslin Family, the City of Raleigh’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department, and the Triangle Land Conservancy) the Joslin family had a vision to give all visitors another natural haven from urban life, with the hope that the Joslin Garden would provide a place where environmental awareness and conservation can be nurtured through education and the joy of a deep connection with the natural world.
Today, after years of planning and work with the city government, the City of Oaks Foundation donated Joslin Garden to the City in order for it to become one of Raleigh’s newest public park’s. Joslin Garden and Joslin House are now owned by the City of Raleigh's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department. You can connect directly to the official website for Joslin Garden here.
The Joslin House remains the headquarters of the City of Oaks Foundation, and the Foundation hosts a number of special events at the Garden each year and manages the rental of the Joslin House and Joslin Garden for private events. Be sure to check our Events page for the latest exciting programs taking place at Joslin Garden, or sign up for our mailing list.
The City of Oaks Foundation continues to be a financial steward for Joslin Garden, advocating for its use and improvement. Through generous financial gifts left by the Joslins and family friends like Charles Sedberry, an endowment is managed by the Foundation that makes annual financial gifts to the City of Raleigh designated for upkeep and maintenance of the garden. Gifts dedicated exclusively for Joslin Garden can be made through the Donation Button below.
No private rental requests are being accepted at this time, however requests to use the property for special programs and community events will be considered on a case by case basis. Photography for personal use is permitted, but commercial photography is prohibited unless the photographer obtains a one-time or annual permit from the City of Oaks Foundation.
